Soul Slings Full Yellow Buckles
I have had the pleasure of testing out this lovely set of buckles from Soul Slings. I have been following their journey and when it popped up as a travelling sling I jumped all over it.
I really love the ethics and family run nature of what Soul Slings are all about, forged from the love of carrying their own children Chinmayie and her partner Ravindra have created superbly beautiful wraps/buckles and mei tais. Soul Slings are from Bangalore in India and not only are they beautiful but they are comfortable and very pocket friendly. Soul Slings support local businesses and fair trade practises, using 100% natural fibres and are members of BCIA (Baby Carrier Industry Alliance) and CPSIA(The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) compliant.
The first thing I notice, after the striking pattern, is how lightweight the carrier feels. Lightweight but supportive and very comfortable.
Jay was just 4 months and 16lbs, when we tested it, and so right at the lowest stage for the carrier, she needed a little bit less width in the seat so I snuck an Ergo insert pillow in and we were away (if you are ever in this situation then a small rolled up towel can also do the job). By this I mean when I put her in the carrier her seat, from knee pit to knee pit needed to be smaller than the carriers width. The carrier bunched up under her knee pit and so by creating a small cushion seat it raised her up just enough to fit much better. The carrier is from 4 months up to toddler or 15lbs to 40lbs.
Now let’s talk patterns, I am one for an ascetically pleasing look, and these carriers come in a tremendous range.
The carriers have a structured waist band and a long front panel. The shoulder straps are padded and it has a dual way tightening system on the webbing (2-way shoulder adjustment + PFA + sliding back/chest straps). The carrier has extra padding at the edge of the seat to support and make the legs comfortable, particularly as your baby gets older.
I found the 100% cotton fabric of the carrier, which is made from their woven wraps very supple and and supportive. The overall comfort was very very good and I really enjoyed using it, with no problems for longer periods. These buckles can be used to carry your baby in an ergonomic position on your front and back.
